Municipal administrative sanction (GAS)
The Municipal Administrative Sanction is a penalty which a municipality can impose for infringements of its general and specific police regulations.
Since 13 May 1999, the legislator has provided the possibility for municipalities to sanction violations of their local police regulations themselves by means of municipal administrative sanctions instead of police sentences imposed by the police magistrate.
Examples of infringements for which a municipal administrative sanction can be imposed are:
- vandalism
- littering
- noise disturbance
- standing and parking
- traffic signs C3 and F103 established with automatic devices
